The crash occurred at about 2:25 p.m. on Monday, April 8 northbound near Exit 2 in Metuchen Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
Two lanes were closed to traffic, 511nj.org reported.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a Honda SUV and GMC pickup were traveling northbound on I-287. In the area of milepost 2, the GMC collided with the rear of the Honda, State Police said.
The driver of the Honda sustained minor injuries, police said.
The accident remains under investigation and there is no additional information.
